I would like to tell the public in this area about the Illinois Guitar league. It was founded 35 years ago and has given many happy hours to thousands of guitar students. Boys and
girls, men and women of all ages join in the fun.
Everyone needs a hobby and hobbies
are healthy and channel energy in healthy directions. Especially in growing –up years, its effects have a stabilizing
effect. Then in the busy mid-years, a hobby can help beat stress or at least, mellow it a bit. Then, in retirement years,
a very pleasant and relaxing way to enjoy yourself.
The Illinois Guitar League cannot get any publicity through the media due to the students being
from 18 different cities in Illinois.
There are competitions held for all
other musical instruments, sports of all kinds, cats, dogs, cattle at fairs, golf to name a few, but nothing, I repeat, nothing
until I.G.L was founded in 1971.
On April 28th and 29th, 2007 in Rochelle, Illinois at the
hickory Grove Convention Center at Highways 251 and 38, the students in Illinois
will get their annual opportunity to compete again in solo, duet, combo, band and entertainment categories according to age
and number of lessons.
Beautiful trophies and ribbons are awarded and it is mandatory that each student
take one written theory test. Study sheets are given to refresh memories and prepare for the short tests at the students lessons
ahead of time.
Judges are chosen from the U.S.A and Canada. They must be a virtuoso on Guitar and have a degree in music.
On behalf of all the studio operators in
Illinois who are members of the I.G.L., I would like to invite
all who love good, legitimate guitar music, to attend the 36th annual Olympic Guitar Festival on April 28th
and 29th, 2007
